
This class is recommended for beginners new to Tai Chi (Taijiquan) who want an introduction to different Tai Chi styles and learn Tai Chi’s fundamental principles. This class will teach you the Ba Fa Wu Bu (Eight Energies Five Directions) form.
The Ba Fa Wu Bu form is a contemporary form with elements from three different Tai Chi styles: Yang, Chen and Sun, making it a wonderful introduction to the wide ranging world of Tai Chi. We will explore the 8 energies of Tai Chi present in all styles: Peng (outward expansion), Lu (roll back), Ji (press), An (push), Cai (pluck), Lie (split), Zhou (elbow), Kao (shoulder). These 8 energies are then paired with one of 5 directions: forward, backward, left, right, and center.
